Natif de Paris et passionné par la sculpture dès son plus jeune âge, c’est à l’Académie Marguerite Allar à Marseille qu’il commence son apprentissage en art. Puis, au Mans, il étudie à l’école d’art municipale. C’est ensuite le grand départ pour un tour du monde de deux ans. Revenu en France, il intègre les Beaux-arts d’Aix en Provence. Il y obtient en 1988 le Diplôme National Supérieur d’Expression Plastique. Mais le voyage continue, il repart vers d’autres horizons : Amérique centrale, Etats-Unis, Australie, et un court séjour en Nouvelle-Calédonie. En 1991, il pose ses valises et ses pensées en Martinique où il exerce en tant que professeur de sculpture à l’Ecole des Beaux-Arts. Quatre ans plus tard il s’installe en Nouvelle-Calédonie. S’il enseigne encore quelques temps, la création occupe de plus en plus son quotidien. Sensible à l’art sous toutes ses formes, avec le groupe Les Identiks il participe à plusieurs interventions dans la rue. Il expérimente et travaille longtemps pour des projets scénographiques en particulier pour le théâtre et pour le cirque. Invité pour des expositions collectives et personnelles, en Europe et dans la région Pacifique, plusieurs de ses œuvres sont acquises par des institutions publiques. Born in Paris and fond of carving and sculpting at a very young age, François begins his arts education at the Marguerite Allar Academy in Marseille. He then studies at the Mans Arts School, before embarking on a two-year trip around the globe. When he returns to France, he enters the Beaux- Arts School in Aix en Provence. He graduates in 1998 with the Visual Arts Superior National Diploma. He gets back on the road, travelling to other places such as Latin America, the USA, Australia and a short stay in New Caledonia. In 1991, he settles in Martinique where he teaches carving and sculpting at the Beaux-Arts School. Four years later, he moves to New Caledonia. Although he still teaches, creating takes more and more or his time. Interested in any form of art, he takes part in various street performances with the Les Identiks collective. He experiments and works on staging projects for theatre and circus. He’s also invited to participate in collective and solo exhibitions, in Europe and in the South Pacific region, where some of his work has been acquired by public institutions.
